John 3:16

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

As I read this, it is easy to gloss over it. Heard it a lot. But, I slow down and read it carefully, as if for the first time. I ask the Holy Spirit to speak so that I can understand.

… so loved … He loved us so … meaning “so much.”

At the time I write this I am 41 years-old. More than ever I have been contemplating that, sooner or later, my life as I know it will come to an end. The older I get, the more real it seems. I have to admit that sometimes it makes me really anxious, mainly because their are a lot of unknowns. This life is a vapor. A future without end if the big play, folks. God, in Jesus, has made it possible for us to not perish but live eternally. I have little idea what it will be like, but I believe in You Jesus. You are my Savior, I recognize You as King. I know that, while there is much unknown, that you hold us in the palm of Your hand. I will take Your palm, good King Jesus, over any alternative. You are good and we are thankful. Amen.
